We all have people in our lives who are lost. Those we pray for on a regular basis. Just begging God to lead them to salvation. While doing all we can to inspire faith in their life. But just what would you be willing to do to see them or even a whole nation be saved? Would you give up your salvation to save someone else? That is exactly what Paul was willing to do for the Jewish people.
Romans 9:3 (ESV)
3 For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh.
This is an extreme response to wanting to see others receive salvation. But the truth is all Christians should have a response similar to Paul’s. When we look to those who are lost it should break our hearts just as it did his.
Romans 9:1–2 (ESV)
9 I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit— 2 that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart.
If you truly believe Gods word then you know what awaits the lost on the other side. You know that it is not the fate that anyone had to receive. If they were to just put their faith in Christ. Christians even know that without God you will never experience true peace in this life.
Romans 6:23 (ESV)
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Philippians 4:7 (ESV)
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
With this knowledge in Christ Christians should be falling other themselves to insure everyone is saved. And not just their friends and family but all people. From the best to the worst, the least to the greatest. We should be doing whatever it takes to bring those we in counter to a relationship with Jesus. Even if that meant trading our salvation for theirs.
The truth is though that is not an option. We can’t just give up our salvation to save someone else. If it was possible then the Apostle Paul would have done it. But their should be a piece of us that wishes we could. Because just being able to save someone else should be enough for us. While we cant trade our salvation their is still so much we can to in order to see as few people suffer as possible.
Be the worker that God needs and help bring people to faith. Start at home with your family and then step out into the world. Tell others of what God has done for you. Just as the man who had been demon possessed was told to do. Inspire faith by sharing the word of God. Be the example of a real loving Christian the world needs to see.
Mark 5:18–20 (ESV)
18 As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him. 19 And he did not permit him but said to him, “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” 20 And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled.
Romans 10:17 (ESV)
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
1 Corinthians 13:4–7 (ESV)
4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant
5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;
6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.
7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
It is important that we understand that even though God wants all people to be saved. Some will still choose to go their own way. Walking down the wide path that leads to destruction. We can not expect to be able to save all people, but that does not mean that we should not try. As we know their are still many that will be saved. Jesus already told us that the harvest is plentiful by the workers are few. So choose to be a worker.
Matthew 9:37 (ESV)
37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;
Hopefully, we have inspired you to do all you can to see others cultivate a relationship with Jesus. Their really is nothing greater you can do in your life then help save someone from the perils of Hell.

This article was very helpful to me, and gave me some peace in my soul, as I wish very much that I could give my salvation to save another soul. I was unsure if I could do this, I did not believe it was biblical to think that I could… but it makes me feel more at ease knowing that my the desire itself is rooted in love for others.
God Bless!
