You’re Not David – Pastor Raymond Woodward

The account of David and Goliath is one that we often hear preached from the pulpit. The theme of most sermons having to do with the infamous battle often place us as David and the problems we face as the giants in our life. Speaking to how God will help win our battles even when everything is stacked against us. But this is not the path the Pastor Raymond Woodward of Capital Community Church took in a recent sermon on this very subject.

It is because of Sermons like this one that I often find myself on the CCC, as they refer to themselves, YouTube channel. It’s also why I am always eager to hear what God has given Pastor Woodward. He is a man that can take a passage from scripture you have heard preached so many times you didn’t think you would ever hear a new sermon on it. Then take it in a direction you never saw coming. That is just what he did in this sermon entitled “You’re not David.”

We have all heard how small David took on the giant and won the battle for Israel. For the most part, this account in scripture is always used to preach a similar message. Pastor Woodward points this out and even references a number of books that say pretty much the same thing. But he is not one to preach what everyone else is preaching turns the tables. Showing us that we are in fact not David. Pointing out that all too often we want to see ourselves as the hero. When that really is not the case.

There is so much I would like to say about this great message but Pastor Woodward will do it so much better than I can. So take the time to listen to this powerful message. Learn that you are not David in the story. Learn who it is that truly fits that roll and know where you are actually standing in the story. I am sure that like me you will leave this message praising God. Thanking Him for the David he has provided in your situation.

We believe this message on David’s battle with Goliath is one that everyone needs to hear. Help us reach more people with it by taking just a moment to share this article.
