The Apostolic Church talks a lot about miracles both past and present. We still believe that God has the ability to change any situation possible. To make the impossible possible and step into any situation. Blessing His people, doing things we cannot even begin to imagine, healing the sick and so much more. As a church, we make a point to often emphasize the amazing things our God can do. However, there is one miracle that takes place in the life of every believer that often gets overlooked. The miraculous choice that God makes to forget every sin we have ever committed.
The Bible does an amazing job of telling us all we need to know about the one who created us. Stating many times that He is all-powerful and all-knowing. He does not reside in the confines of space and time as we do. Scripture tells us that God sees everything that every person does. But not only does He see what we do He also is able to see the inner working of our hearts and minds. Knowing even the secret sins we have committed that have never even manifested themselves physically.
Revelation 4:11 (ESV)
11 “Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they existed and were created.”
Psalm 147:5 (ESV)
5 Great is our Lord, and abundant in power;
his understanding is beyond measure.
2 Peter 3:8 (ESV)
8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Jeremiah 17:10 (ESV)
10 “I the Lord search the heart
and test the mind,
to give every man according to his ways,
according to the fruit of his deeds.”
Knowing all this makes it even more amazing to think that our Lord has chosen to forget our past sins. Knowing and seeing all, He made the decision to remember nothing. Especially considering it is often so hard for us to forget those very same things. Things that at times haunt us years into our salvation. But the Bible assures us time and time again that our merciful God has made the decision to forget it all.
Jeremiah 31:34 (ESV)
34 And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
Hebrews 8:12 (ESV)
12 For I will be merciful toward their iniquities,
and I will remember their sins no more.”
Hebrews 10:17 (ESV)
17 then he adds,
“I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”
Not one single wrong thing that lies in the past of any saved person remains in the memory of God. It was all cast out. Erased from the moment of repentance. We all have sinned and fallen sort of the glory of God. Every single person has lived in a way that according to the Bible is worthy of eternal punishment. Yet that is not the case for those who have repented and turned their lives toward God. He no longer is able to recall any sinful action lurking in their past. Not because He has happened to forget their deeds but because He has chosen to forget them! Which is a miraculous act if there ever was one!
The Bible does not stop by just saying God has forgotten all of our wrongs once we have been redeemed. It goes on to speak of how our sins are cast as far as the East is from the West. That the record of our lives kept since birth has been forever altered. Any record of sin has been blotted out with the blood of Christ. Removing every trace that any sin ever took place in our life in the eyes of Gods.
Psalm 103:12 (ESV)
12 as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us.
Isaiah 43:25 (ESV)
25 “I, I am he
who blots out your transgressions for my own sake,
and I will not remember your sins.
Isaiah 44:22 (ESV)
22 I have blotted out your transgressions like a cloud
and your sins like mist;
return to me, for I have redeemed you.
Praise comes quickly when we see or hear of someone being healed. Or when a blessing gets poured out in our life. But oh the praise that should erupt in our souls when we think about the fact that an all-knowing all-powerful God has chosen to forget every sin we have committed against Him. A seemly impossible feat done solely out of love for His creation. It is by this miracle we are able to gain entry into the kingdom of Heaven. It transforms our lives and allows us to be called the children of God. Stop searching for a miracle and see the one you already have received!
If you have experienced the Almighty choosing to forget your past, be thankful. Know that it was a choice made out of love for you. Understand the perfect recall of all time that the Lord possesses but that He still chooses to let go of. So He could allow you to gain entrance into His eternal kingdom.
If you have yet to turn your life to God know that your sins can be forgotten as well. Follow the plan of salvation as it is displayed if scripture. Repent of your sins and seek the forgiveness God is offering every soul. Be baptized in the glorious name of Jesus Christ and receive the gift of His spirit. There is nothing you have done that God is not willing to forget.
1 John 1:9–10 (ESV)
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Acts 3:19 (ESV)
19 Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out,
