Let’s be honest life is not always easy. Even as Christians washed in the blood and awaiting a great reward in Heaven we are still going to face tough times on earth. The Bible makes that clear to us and even shows it in the life of many of the most righteous people to ever live such as the Apostles. Many of whom were jailed, beaten, poor, and even martyred even though they served God with all their heart. When troubles arise in our lives we often begin to believe that God has forgotten us. That He has somehow missed all that we have done for Him. That He no longer is even able to see us. These thoughts and even others like them though could not be farther from the truth.

The nation of Israel often felt as many of us do today when things get tough. They believed that God had simply forgotten about them. Which was the reason why everything bad was happening. The Lord was quick to correct this mindset pointing to the fact that a mother will not forget her nursing child. But God didn’t stop there He went on to even say that a mother may forget but He will still not forget His people.

Isaiah 49:14–15 (ESV)

14  But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me;

my Lord has forgotten me.”

15  “Can a woman forget her nursing child,

that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb?

  Even these may forget,

yet I will not forget you.

The Bible says that we are God’s children and as such God will not forget us either. The same statement He made to them all those years still stands true today. When we say God has forgotten us He reply is I will never forget you.

That is not the only statement that still rings true today from the Old Testament. In fact, many do but we are going to focus on one from Deuteronomy. In which the people of Israel told not to be afraid because the Lord is going will them and He will not leave them or forsake them. God is still going with His people today and will not leave us. So we have nothing to fear even during the darkest battles.

Deuteronomy 31:6 (ESV)

6 Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

One of the last statements Jesus made before ascending into Heaven was one to remind us that He would always be with us. Because He is always with us we can trust in the fact that He will also never forget us. It is impossible to forget what you never leave.

Matthew 28:20 (ESV)

20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

It’s also important that we remember that God is not simply with us. As in He is not just close to us in a physical sense. But we are filled with His spirit. Or in other words, we have God living inside of us. So we can’t believe He can forget us because He is always with us and in us.

1 Corinthians 3:16 (ESV)

16 Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?

The Bible does not contain even one lie but is filled with truth. Because God used it to tell us that He will never leave us or forsake that is the truth. The Lord won’t walk away from you or forget about you. However, He will allow you to leave and even forget Him. But just like the father in the parable about the prodigal son He will be patiently awaiting your return. Ready to embrace you and welcome you with great joy!

Luke 15:20–24 (ESV)

20 And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. 21 And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ 22 But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. 23 And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. 24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate.

Don’t believe that God has forgotten about you. Because that could not be farther from the truth. The truth is that concept is nothing more than a tactic of the devil used in tough times to try and separate you from God. Don’t let him win just keep trusting in the Lord and He will carry you through. You might not always be able to see or feel Him but He is still right there with you. Cling to the Lord and after the storm has passed then you will be able to clearly see how He was with you every step of the way. Our God never forgets His people and will never forget you.
