Matthew 7:13

13 “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way.

The idea that our life is like driving down the highway is one that fits well. At times we encounter potholes that cause the ride to get a little bumpy. Other times we roll onto pristine blacktop that we hope will continue on forever, but sadly it often leads back to broken pavement. And on and on the cycle continues until we reach our destination.

At times we seem to speed through without a care in the world. Then the lanes blur and we slow to a crawl. Causing us to wonder if we ‘ll ever make it where we are going.

I often think of our decisions in life like pulling up to a large intersection. We are presented with multiple options, but we can only choose to go one direction. If we were able to zoom out and see the full picture it would be easy to see in what direction the promised land lies. But sadly life doesn’t come with a GPS app.

However, we are given the equivalent of an old school roadmap in the Bible. It doesn’t tell us to turn by turn directions. But when studied properly it does give us the necessary information to pick the right turns. And when we get really lost we can stop and ask directions from the only one who knows all the right turns.

If you are reading this and feel as though you have turned on to the wrong path. I want you to know you still have enough gas to make it home, but you have to make the decision now to turn towards God. Forsaking your old path towards destruction and choosing to head down a crossroad towards the path of righteousness.

Crossroads provide an escape. A way to quickly turn back when we have made a wrong turn. God has built in so many crossroads into our lives. He always provides us with a way out. We may not always see them because we are going to fast. But when you slow down and start to focus they begin to pop up all around us.

You have a choice. You don’t have to take another drink. Or get another fix. You can change the direction of your life at this moment all you have to do is make the choice to turn onto one of the many crossroads that will lead you to God. It’s as simple as clicking on your blinker and easing off the brake.

It may feel as though you have gone too far in the wrong direction. But you need to understand that you can never go so far that God will not allow you to turn to him. Just take the Apostle Paul for example. He made it his goal to destroy Christianity and killed many Christians along the way. But everything changed when he meets a man named Jesus on the road to Damascus.

1 Timothy 1:15

15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

In that verse, Paul explains that the whole reason Jesus came to into the world is to save sinners, of whom he believes he is the worst. You won’t find a catch associated with that statement. You have not committed too many sins. Or even a sin so bad that you can’t be saved. You just need to turn away from

I thank God for crossroads because we have all needed to use one at one time or another.

Romans 3:23

23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

We hope this article has touched you in some way. If you know someone that needs a crossroad please share this with them. It may be just what they need to realize they can still turn to a life lived for God. In fact, this could be the sign that alerts them to the crossroad just over the next hill.
