Finding someone who would not want to live forever in a land where death and disease don’t exist would be nearly impossible. No matter what the religion or lack of religion no one wants to face death. Whether or not someone wants to admit it Heaven is the place we all dream of. Yet very few truly understand that in order to make it to the promised land we must first pass the entrance exam which is this life.
The idea that this life is the entrance exam to Heaven may sound strange at first. But once you have thought about it there is no better way to describe this life. Our lives on Earth are just an entrance exam for eternity. The way each of us lives ultimately dictates whether we will go to Heaven or Hell. Each choice we make answers one of the many questions on the test.
Thankfully you can only pass or fail this test. You do not have to get the right answers from the beginning. As long as you are able to check the right boxes before it is too late. Plus this test is open book and the one who made the test also wrote the book. Of course, that book is the Bible and it gives you all the answers necessary to pass the test.
Finding The Answers
In fact, through the study of the Bible, you begin to see that the way of Aceing the exam is actually very simple. Believe in God and the savior he sent, Jesus Christ, repent and be baptized in Jesus name, and finally turn from your old lifestyle and put on your new life through Christ.
John 3:16 (ESV)
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:5 (ESV)
5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
Acts 2:38 (ESV)
38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Colossians 3:5 (ESV)
5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
Colossians 3:8-14 (ESV)
8 But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. 11 Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.
12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
If you can follow the instructions laid in the Bible. And are able to continue to follow God’s commands throughout your life. Then you should have no problem passing this exam. And graduating to eternity in Heaven.
Receiving Assistance
When you look at it that way the way to Heaven is not that difficult. Of course, it will still be hard at times but God sends help. Through the Holy Spirit living inside us, we are able to fight against temptation. This enables us to stay on the right path and not cross out our previous answers.
Galatians 5:16 (ESV)
16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
Not only does God send us assistance through the Holy Spirit. But when you are faced with a tough question and can’t find the right answer in the Bible. We can turn to prayer. All you have to do is ask God to give you the wisdom and understanding to pick the right answer.
James 1:5 (ESV)
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
Oh, and we must take a minute to mention study groups. Study groups are held all over the world multiple days out of the week in the form of Church. By attending a regular Church service not only are you able to learn more, but you also are able to receive constant positive reinforcement. All of which will help you not feel the need to swap back to your old answers.
Tutor Others
Once you have your answers locked in you can start to help others find the way to pass this exam as well. This is what we are called as Christians to do and there is no greater service one can perform. Thankfully once we understand the test it is far easier to help others understand it.
Hopefully, this has helped you to see that this life is nothing more than the entrance exam to eternity. And that not only has God created this test but he has also given you every opportunity to pass. All you have to do is seek out his assistance and any tough problem can be solved.
