Not one Christian can truly say that they have not had an almost moment. Where you almost shared you faith with a stranger. Maybe you felt like God was telling you to do something, but you decided at the last minute not to do it. It happens to us all the time and we rarely think back on it. What if you had done it though? Could you have changed someone’s life? Maybe even saved it? If you only give almost you will never know. The good news is there’s still time to give you all moving forward.
This sermon entitled “Almost Is Never Enough” was preached by Pastor Phil Endris. It was given at The Rock Church of Elk Grove, California. I only recently discovered The Rock Church’s youtube channel and they have some really great preaching. You will definitely be seeing more of their message featured here at Everyday Apostolic.
Pastor Endris makes many great points throughout the sermon, but one really stick out to me. Jesus did not give almost. He didn’t almost get crucified. Nor did he almost rise again on the third day. No! Jesus gave it all, so that we could be forgiven for our trespasses.
Pastor Endris brings his points home by sharing times when he only gave almost. Describing how he regrets those times. With that he also shares his experiences of heeding to God’s voice and giving all. Showing that if you are will to give all great things will follow.
We should all want to listen to God’s voice in our life’s. Waiting to complete the mission God has given us. That may just mean speaking to those who may not normally and sharing the gospel with them. I am willing to admit that I have not always given my all when it comes to sharing the gospel. I would hate to think of the times I could have been used but I was not willing to give my all.
Thankfully we have great sermons like this one that teach us that almost is never enough. Moving forward I hope to remember the lessons of this sermon and always give my all to God. It may not always be something I want to do, but if it is what God wants then it is what I need to do. I hope you reading this will also choose to give you all to God and stop only giving almost. We can’t rely on others to answer the call God gave us.
