The Bible gives us many reasons as to why we should be content. Ultimately coming down to the fact that God will provide what each individual person needs. So we should find contentment in whatever situation God has placed us in. Which in itself is worthy of no other word than amazing. Because these means God places us right where we need to be in all things for our good. Yet, the writer of Hebrews gives us an even better reason to be content.

Hebrews 13:5 (ESV)

5 Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

The writer lays it out plain and simple. Be content not because of what you have in this world. But because you have God. Because He said that He will never leave you. He will never forsake you. God is enough!

Normally I would look for a way to elaborate or add in additional scriptures to drive the point home. But I feel as though the point makes itself. Christians must stop searching for what they hope will make them content and focus on what they have. And I do not mean we should focus on the mere money or possessions we already have as we often believe we should.

But that our focus should be on the fact that we are never alone our God is always with us. He truly loves us more then we can imagine. To the point of sending Jesus to take on our sins. So that we lost sinners could be forgiven and receive eternal life. God alone is enough and because of this, we should be content in every situation!

Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)

10 fear not, for I am with you;

    be not dismayed, for I am your God;

I will strengthen you, I will help you,

    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Matthew 28:20 (ESV)

20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Romans 8:38-39 (ESV)

38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 3:16 (ESV)

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
