It seems that many modern churches have decided to lead with Love first. Allowing other Christian principles to take a back seat. Spreading love is great and heavily backed up by the Bible. In fact, Jesus said the most important commandment is to Love the Lord with all your heart and soul. Second to that is to love your neighbor as you do yourself. So this all-inclusive love movement has its foundation in the scripture. But sadly it seems many fail to realize that true Christian love requires truth.
To love someone is to be open and honest with them. We do not lie to those that we love or try to make the truth fit their actions. Sometimes people will claim to lie to protect someone, but if they really loved them they would tell the truth. Because all lies will eventually be found out. Ultimately causing more pain than just telling the original truth ever would have.
Love requires truth. To love someone is not to soften the words of scripture. You can love a person and not agree with sin in their life. Don’t judge but also do not try to make the Bible fit a lifestyle. A life must be reshaped to fit the Bible!
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (NLT)
9 Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, 10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God. 11 Some of you were once like that. But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
We have to understand this scripture. Those attend our churches and call themselves Christians but still live a life indulging in the sins of the world will not inherit the kingdom of God. Sin leads to destruction. There is no way around this. We need to be honest with ourselves and others alike. We cannot live a life partaking in sin just as we did before coming to know Christ. There is only one truth and the law doesn’t bend to save.
I know this sounds harsh, but if you really love someone you cannot try to write off their sin. You can’t tell them it will all be okay and they will still go to heaven even though they never stopped sinning. God loves them as sinners, but He is just and will punish those who do not live for Him according to the Bible.
Those who truly want to live for God do all they can to not sin. They avoid the staining touch of sin at all cost. At times they may fall, but remorse comes quick. Imidietly they repent and feel the weight of what they have done. That is not the same as those who know what is wrong yet they continue to do it anyway. Saying “God still loves me” only to justify their wrongdoing.
There are many today that teach the opposite of what is I have laid out in the article. But if you read through the New Testament you will quickly learn that a life of sin never leads to heaven. Yes God loves you and through love, he has given you a way to turn from sin and cling to him. Hold to what the Apostles taught and do not allow false teachers to lead you away from the Lord.
