Some sermons have the ability to impact people for years after it was first preached. For instance, “The Fashion of This World” by Anthony Mangun is one of those sermons. He brings to light the truth of the world we live in. Showing how the things we often allow to rul our lives will not stand the test of time. Our churches today need to realize that only the things of God are worthy of our time. Because those are the only things that will have an impact on the next life.

Pastor Mangun however does not just point out the downfalls in the lives of others. He is sure to mention that he is just as able to get caught up in the things of this world as anyone else. It would be good for us all to realize that we are not above the influence of this world. You must be able to realize if you are and take the steps to get back on the right path.

Not only is this message full of great teaching. It exemplifies Pastor Manguns unique preaching style. He is able to weave scripture into his statements and show the correlation between them. In addition, it is impressive that he is able to preach for such a long time and almost never stop to breath. You also cannot discount the enthusiasm that he carries through his preaching. It makes you hang off every word.

The things of this world not standing the test of time has been at the forefront of my mind as of late. I have lived a life of chasing the things of this world. Searching for things or activities that would bring me happiness. Ultimately distracting me from my purpose in serving God. Every time you get something new, something newer comes out. Every time you go somewhere there is another place to go. You can never do enough to have done it all.

In conclusion, the Bible teaches that finding happiness in this world is impossible. The whole book of Ecclesiastes covers this topic in great detail. Even the testimony of the world teaches this. As Pastor Mangun explains some of the most successful people to ever live had a testimony of sadness.

We can only truly be happy when we fill our days with the things of God. For those are the only things that will ever last. Pastor Mangun does an amazing job of showing all of this during this message. I hope that you will take to watch this sermon and learn all that you can from it. Realizing that chasing the things of this world is fruitless has the potential to change your life forever.
