I have heard it said that the Bible is God’s love letter to the church. In many ways, I have to agree with such a statement but at the same time, I believe it goes deeper than that. Because the Bible does not only describe and show the love of God toward the church but towards all mankind. It is filled with passage after passage that acts as proof of the love the Lord has for every single person.
Jesus came into the world on a mission to extend love to everyone. Coming so that anyone who placed their faith in Him would be saved. He left behind His place in the Kingdom of Heaven for a time to become a humble servant. An act that can only be attributed to the great love He has for all people.
John 3:16 (ESV)
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Philippians 2:5–8 (ESV)
5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
It would be easy to assume that God loves those who are good. Those who already live righteous lives and that those were the very ones He came to save. But that is not the story the Bible tells. God’s love extends to all people from the righteous servant of God to the worst of sinners. He came to save all people and not those who believe they are righteous but those who know they are sinners.
Mark 2:17 (ESV)
17 And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Luke 19:10 (ESV)
10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Scripture even calls us to understand that the act on the cross was a sign of God’s love. Stating that some people may die to save an exceedingly good person. But Jesus loves us so much He chose to die to save us while we were still sinners. Before we even knew Him, He died so we could have life more abundantly.
Romans 5:6–8 (ESV)
6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Paul believed this and was glad that God was willing to love all people including sinners. As he came to believe that he was chief among them because of all he did to tear apart the early church. Still, God loved him, offered him salvation as He does all people, and used him to greatly advanced the faith. Even using him to write a good portion of the New Testament books. Out of which verses about God’s love are pulled from fro this very article.
1 Timothy 1:15 (ESV)
15 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.
Possibly the greatest proof of God’s love for all people lies in the fact that nothing will ever stop Him from loving us. No matter what anyone does they will never be able to separate us from God’s love. It can’t be taken away or altered. Our own actions are not even enough to separate us from God’s love. As we have already seen God loves those lost in sin and sent Jesus to suffer the cross so they could have the opportunity to be saved.
Romans 8:38–39 (ESV)
38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God loves all mankind and the proof can be seen all through the Bible. If only I could share every example from the scripture that clearly shows the love God has for all people I would. But the truth is that is the whole message of the Bible. Take the time to read it for yourself and see that God loves you. No matter what you have ever done in your life it does not change that fact. Remember as well that you are not alone but that God loves everyone. No matter if they love him, know him, acknowledge him, or are completely lost in sin God loves them.
If you are not saved I pray you will see the love God has for mankind. Embrace that love and turn to God. Receive the free gift of salvation that He offers. Which means you will not die but receive eternal life in Heaven. Where sadness and pain will be no more.
Revelation 21:4 (ESV)
4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
To receive this salvation simply follow the biblical plan of salvation. Repent or turn away from the sins that have bound you. Be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of those sins. Then you shall receive the spirit of God. If you have any questions about God’s love or the plan of salvation please feel free to email us at [email protected].
