The message entitled “Water Baptism In Jesus Name” comes from my home church First Apostolic Church of Maryville Tennessee. Pastor Carpenter brings truth through this sermon on the TV program The Apostolic Connection. Thankfully the church also posted it on their youtube channel.
If you look at Christianity as a whole you will see many different beliefs. One of the biggest dividing factors is Baptism. It seems almost everyone has a different opinion on if or how people should be baptized.
In this sermon, Pastor Carpenter breaks down baptism in Jesus name from a Biblical perspective. He gives real biblical examples of this form of baptism. Not backing down from tough scripture. Neither does he try to explain away what the Bible says as some may do. Instead, he presents exactly what the bible says in its entirety.
While this sermon is short in comparison to your average apostolic sermon. That’s due to the fact it is meant to fit in a tight TV slot. It still contains many great nuggets of information. Just as you would expect to get in an hour-long sermon.
For instance, Pastor Carpenter explains how pulling one verse out of context can lead you in the wrong direction. Instead, he says one should read the surrounded verse. This allows you to understand what the verse is actually saying.
When doing this Pastor Carpenter also gives a great tip on how to truly understand what you are reading. Do not just read over the scripture, but ask yourself three questions? Who is speaking, who are they speaking too, and what is the subject they are talking about? When you ask those question you are able to see the full context of a verse. As we all know context is very important when trying to understand the true meaning of a statement.
If you have had questions about Jesus name baptism then this message can answer that question. If you have been looking for a way to show other the importance of water baptism in Jesus name.
