One of the greatest deceptions Satan has used against humanity is, “The fallacy that we have more time to get right with God!”

He has taken full advantage of humanity’s nature to procrastinate. Convincing them it’s ok to play Russian roulette with their own soul.

I read a story about how some fallen angels who were scheming a plot against the souls of humanity. One demon spoke up and said, let’s convince the people, there is no God. Well, that’s a good plan, but how about convincing the people the Bible isn’t true, said another. The last demon spoke up and said, I have it! Let’s convince the people they don’t have to serve the Lord right now. Let’s tell them they have more time to get right! Aww….brilliant plan they proclaimed!!

This of course is a fabricated story to prove a point, but a valid one nonetheless. We humans have a grave tendency to prolong the inevitable, doctor visits, yard work, etc.. But the most important decision in this life is to make sure our soul is ready to meet the Lord. Yet many delay their response to His call. As the story goes, Satan has convinced us, we have more time!

I remember as a young boy hearing one of my best friends say, “I’ll serve the Lord when I turn 18”! Twenty years later, that person dear to my heart has yet to hand over the reigns of his heart to the Lord! The reality is, we don’t pick and choose a “convenient season of time” when we’re going to suddenly surrender to the Lord. That’s presuming on the sure Mercies of God.

Each day we reject the call to surrender our hearts to the Lord, is another day we are tempting the Lord. Scripture tells us, we have not been promised tomorrow. We are trampling on the Love of God by thinking we can serve Him at a later time. That’s simply saying, “I want to live life my way. When I’m ready to give up my will, then I’ll surrender.” What a deceived heart that is!

In one of Paul’s many times spent in prison, he came across a Roman procurator by the name of Felix. Paul preached to this man, and Scripture say’s Felix was moved by Paul’s words to the point he trembled. Yet, no doubt Satan showed up whispering into his ear, “no, not now…there’s more time.”.

He delayed his response, and spoke the infamous words, “go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you”. We don’t know the exact words Paul spoke, but scripture tells us, he warned him of the coming judgment. History records that Felix never again received “that convenient season” by Paul, but one day after his life had fallen apart, he killed himself to silence his despondent miserable soul.

Like Felix, we’ve been given an opportunity to respond to the call of God on our life. God’s Word say’s, He stands at the door of our heart, waiting for us to let Him in. The danger of delay is again, we’re not promised tomorrow. The longer we reject Him, the harder the heart becomes to the Lord, and the more dull our ears become to His voice. Don’t put off making your soul right with the Lord, there is coming a day when your delay could very well cost you eternity in Heaven! Many people will relive the thought in their mind, “I thought I had more time!” God help us!!

Romans 13:11 (KJV)

And that, knowing the time, that now [it is] high time to awake out of sleep: for now [is] our salvation nearer than when we believed.

2 Corinthians 6:2 (KJV)

(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now [is] the accepted time; behold, now [is] the day of salvation.)

Isaiah 55:6 (KJV)

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
